A Proposal/Wedding Quilt

If you follow me on instagram (sewmodern1) or Facebook, you may remember me posting about a very special Changefire trip to Mexico back in July.  My friend Johnny, who runs Changefire, decided it was time to propose to his amazing girlfriend Lindsey.  One of the orphanages that we visit holds a particular place in their hearts and Johnny wanted to do it there, in front of the kids.  I made up some quilt blocks using Elizabeth’s pattern that said Will You Marry Me? A few of us held them up and Johnny got down on one knee and proposed.

Aren’t these two the cutest?!

I  could go into detail about how wonderful, inspiring, interesting and loving these two people are, but that’s probably for a different blog.  Let’s just say I adore both of them.

They got married December 6th and I put the proposal blocks into
the back of the quilt and made a Glam Clam top with fabrics that they picked out.

I finally finished it and the other night I was able to give it to them.

Congratulations Johnny and Lindsey!
You deserve all the happiness in the world because you create so much for others.
And because you totally rock.

  5. What an amazing story (and quilt too). What kind of guy would propose with quilt block? It’s brilliant! You’ve done a stunning job for the top and the quilting, well done!
